During a recent series of posts I notice a few "Ice Rods" mentioned.  Does anyone have a taper that you would be willing to share?  I was hoping to check out a local bluegill pond later this winter.  Thanks in Advance!   (Steve Donaldson)

I've made several icefishing rods for panfish.  A straight taper is just fine.  Start with a tip dimension for a 4-wt (.060-.065) but make the taper to the grip quite steep (.006 per inch, or more).  If you get a large fish on, there will be a lot of stress concentrated at the grip and you can easily break the rod at that point (I've done it).
